Default Become a member to the Sarbanes Oxley Compliance Professionals Association (SOXCPA)

I copy a message from George Lekatis, President of the Sarbanes Oxley Compliance Professionals Association (SOXCPA)

Dear Sarbanes Oxley Compliance Professional,

Seven years after the bankruptcy of Enron, in the middle of a new market crisis, we are still working in Sarbanes Oxley projects around the world.

We thought that we had seen everything under the sun, but it was not true... strange things happen these days... could you believe that you would see the Fed enabling a JP Morgan Chase takeover of Bear Stearns? ...

... and we all think... what is next? What should we do? Will we be still able to work in good Sarbanes Oxley projects in the future?

In the middle of a crisis, we have to be careful.

The bad news: Thousands of professionals are without a job.

The good news: Risk and Compliance become much more important.

My opinion: Sarbanes Oxley knowledge and experience is VERY important. Many laws and regulations are based on the SOX principles, and firms need SOX experts for all new projects.

But, firms need more than Sarbanes Oxley experts. They have to comply with new standards, principles, laws and regulations. Now, in the new era of re-regulation, where all the "analysts" explain that we are seeing the consequences of lax regulation, we have to learn more, we have to do more.

My proposal:
